Joba Chamberlian was on hand at Modell’s in Manhattan with members of Castle Hill Little League from the Bronx to help launch the Modell’s Sporting Goods Fall Sports Exchange in New York.  Castle Hill was chosen to be part of the program due their affiliation witht the Modell’s Team Weeks program. 

The Sports Exchange will run from August 6th-14th in all Modell’s stores, during which time you can trade in your old sporting goods & receive 10% off your total purchase!

Shane Victorino with Bustleton Bengals Team Weeks Organization

To launch the Modell’s Sporting Goods Sports Exchange program, Phillies center fielder and Nike athlete Shane Victorino paid a visit to the Modell’s on Snyder Avenue in South Philadelphia on Friday, August 6th. Shane met up with the Bustleton Bengals Youth Baseball Organization at the store, who as a member of the Modell’s Team Weeks Program was was chosen to be the first group to participate in the Sports Exchange. The kids were the first to make donations into the Sports Exchange bin and each child got a chance to interact with Shane and receive a brand new Nike backpack and Nike PRO compression t-shirt. Last Friday Modell’s announced that it will be carrying a brand-new, exclusive, New York Yankees 2009 World Series Championship ring T-shirt.  The Championship Ring Tee, made by Majestic Athletic and officially licensed by Major League Baseball, will don an image of the classic and timeless 2009 World Series Championship ring.

The New York Yankees 2009 World Series Championship Ring Tee will be on sale for a limited time only in all Modell’s New York metropolitan locations,  beginning Wednesday, April 28, 2010—available in men’s ($19.99 retail) and youth ($15.99 retail) sizes. Customers who purchase the Championship Ring Tee will also receive a free 2009 Championship Ring Poster, as a gift-with- purchase. In addition to the gift-with-purchase, Modell’s will donate a portion of the proceeds from each Championship Ring Tee sold to 10 local youth baseball leagues in the tri-state area.

 To officially announce the launch of the Championship Ring Tee program, guests from select local youth baseball leagues will participate in a ceremony at Yankee Stadium, prior to the April 30, 2010 game against the Chicago White Sox, where Modell’s will present each youth league with a check for $1,000.00.

On Friday, April 23rd, Modell’s invited over 15 local Team Week organizations to the Mo’s Zone located in Citi Field.  They had the ability to sit back, relax, and view the game from the right field wall.  They enjoyed food and drink, while watching the Mets get their 7th win of the season against the Atlanta Braves. 

The organization members were very excited to experience a game from inside of the Mo’s Zone and loved the fact that Modell’s had chosen them to attend the game.  Four of the  local Community Ambassadors were on hand to give support to the organizations and show them around the suite.  We would like to thank everyone who came out to the game and hope that everyone had a great time.
