Favorite Pro Player and why: Jared Veldheer O-Line for the Oakland Raiders: He was a college teammate.  Plus offensive lineman never get any love.

Sports I played growing up: Basketball, Boxing, Baseball, Hockey, Track, and Football

Highest level of sports played: College Football at Hillsdale College

I still play: Basketball, Golf

My Modell’s Defining Athletic Moment: Our basketball team at Hillsdale College was playing Grand Valley State University, and I was chosen at halftime along with three others to shoot a half court shot. Long story short, I went first and made it. I then got all my text books for free that semester.

Come to the South Shore Commons on Thursday, August 18th from 3-5pm to congratulate Staten Island’s very own, Marcus Browne on earning a spot on the 2012 US Olympic Boxing Team.  Marcus will be signing autographs from 3-4pm.  After the autograph session there will be a press conference and rally to show support for his great accomplishment.  Make sure you are apart of this great event!

Don’t miss this chance to see some of the NBA’s and soccer’s finest athletes play a game of 8-on-8 soccer for charity this Wednesday, June 22^nd at 6 p.m., as part of the 4^th annual SHOWDOWN IN CHINATOWN. The Steve Nash Foundation, along with official athletic apparel sponsorships by Modell’s Sporting Goods and Adidas will host the game at Sarah Roosevelt Park in the Lower East Side of New York City. Superstars such as Steve Nash, Tony Parker, Grant Hill, Brandon Jennings, Jared Dudley, Claudio Reyna, Marcin Gortat, and Demba Ba, amongst many others will be showcasing their talents for FREE to those in attendance and all proceeds will be donated to benefit needy children around the world.

The Showdown in Chinatown is a free-to-the-public event located in Sarah D. Roosevelt Park (Chrystie St. and Stanton St.). Bleacher seating and standing room are on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to come early to see what will be a highly entertaining game for a great cause!
