The first time I experienced the World Cup, was the summer of 1998 in France. I had never been a soccer fan and was more interested in hitting up the shops on the Champs-Elysées then catching a soccer match.
While at a lunch that first memorable day, the bartender happened to have on the Italy vs France semi-finals playing on the TV. After casually glancing at the game every couple of minutes, I was hooked. The way the players moved the ball up and down the field was such an art form compared to my typical love for 300lb football players kicking the stuffing out of each other! Read more …
