On October 30-31, Modell’s teamed up with Jersey Shore Pop Warner to host the War at the Shore. The championship weekend was held at Jackson Pop Warner’s beautiful Field of Dreams in Jackson, NJ. Teams from all over the Jersey coast came to battle for the chance to advance to the regional round!
Modell’s was the headline sponsor for the event and set-up tents at the 10 yard line. General Manager of #114 Toms River, Chris Paino, my fellow Community Ambassador, Jason Karlowski, and I offered official Jersey Shore Pop Warner sweatshirts and t-shirts for avid fans and players alike. Kids played and practiced making the perfect pass on our giant inflatable football game. Winning shots received branded thundersticks which were used to cheer on the combating teams on the field. Modell’s Sporting Goods teamed up with ZogSports/Play for Your Cause and Out2Play to build a brand-new play yard for PS 217 on Roosevelt Island.
ZogSports is an adult social sports organization that promotes charity and social action among young professionals in New York City. With the help of Modell’s Sporting Goods Team Weeks program and the first-ever Community Weekend, ZogSports raised funds to be donated to Out2Play to rebuild a “Recess Wonderland” for PS 217. Out2Play is a non profit organization that helps to refurbish existing playgrounds and transforms unused asphalt parking lots into play grounds in low-income areas.

Toms River National is heading to Williamsport for their first game on Saturday.

Celtic’s First Round draft pick Avery Bradley brought a few of his new friends from a few of the Medford Youth Leagues to the Medford store on August 6th to kick off the Fall Sports Exchange. The leagues were chosen to participate in the kickoff event because of their involvement with the Team Week Program. The local Youth brought old equipment, which they had grown out of to put in the donation box at the store. They received a 10% coupon to make a purchase at the store for some new equipment, a chance to get a photo with the new Celtic star, and an autographed photo.
